Our Mission
We are a learning community in which faculty and students
support each other's learning across the lifespan. Our
department mission is to educate students to the highest
levels of professionalism, consistent with ASHA and Northeastern
University accreditation standards and Massachusetts licensure
requirements; to provide them with a multi-disciplinary,
and practice-oriented education in our urban university
environment; to provide them with research experiences
based on the highest standards of scientific knowledge;
to provide them with clinical experiences with clients
and families from a diverse population base using an evidence-informed
practice approach; to evaluate their progress using both
formative and summative assessment measures.
Our faculty will engage in continuous learning both inside
and outside the department to be current in recent research
and to contribute to that knowledge base. They will, as
appropriate, use, develop and address in their teaching,
technology that improves the hearing, communication, respiration
and swallowing skills of individuals at a variety of age
and skill levels.
